Please read through the following.

Yes. Bookings are essential as our classes have limited spaces. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your booking as early as possible so someone else has the opportunity to join.

Please stay home if you have any cold or flu symptoms, including a cough, runny nose or sneezing. We love seeing you on the mat, but we’d much rather see you when you’re feeling well.

The studio can get warm, particularly during summer. We generally prefer not to use air-conditioning unless conditions are extreme, so wear comfortable, breathable clothing and come prepared for the temperature.

More fitted clothing is generally best for yoga, as loose clothing can get in the way during some postures.

Please bring your own water bottle and your yoga mat and towel.

It’s best to come to class on an empty stomach. Where possible, we also recommend emptying your bladder and bowels before practice.

We recommend hydrating about 30 minutes before practice and afterwards, rather than drinking during class. Please bring your own water bottle.

Yes, please. A quick shower before practice is appreciated, particularly before a Mysore or more physically demanding practice. We’re all breathing deeply in a shared space, so good personal hygiene helps everyone enjoy their practice.

Please leave your shoes on the stairwell and enter the studio barefoot.

Please wash your hands as soon as you enter the studio.

If you cough or sneeze, please do so into your elbow and wash or sanitise your hands afterwards. Hand sanitiser is available in the studio.

Absolutely! Please say hello and introduce yourself to the teacher before setting up your mat, particularly if you’re new to the studio.

This is also the perfect time to let your teacher know about any injuries, physical concerns or anything else that may affect your practice. This allows your teacher to support you appropriately during class.

Please wait outside until the class has ended. Students may be resting in savasana, so please keep your voice low and allow them to enjoy those final moments of stillness.

Please switch your mobile phone to silent or, ideally, turn it off and leave it in the storage spaces provided.

A ringing or buzzing phone can be incredibly disruptive during practice. Yoga is a wonderful opportunity to switch off from the rest of the world.

If you accidentally leave your phone on and it rings, please turn it off straight away to minimise disruption.

Please bring only what you need onto the studio floor. Your mat and towel should generally be all you need.

There is cupboard and storage space available for other belongings. Keeping the floor clear helps keep everyone safe and gives teachers room to move around the studio.

Please make room for other students to place their mats down comfortably.

Avoid touching or walking across someone else’s mat. If you need to move around the room, please walk around mats rather than over them.

Yoga is a personal practice of self-study, so we ask that you keep chatting to a minimum once practice begins.

Your teacher is always available if you need assistance, but allowing the room to remain quiet gives everyone the opportunity to focus on their body, breath and practice.

Try not to stare at other students while they practise. It can be surprisingly distracting when you’re trying to concentrate.

If you’re unsure of what comes next, wait for the teacher’s demonstration or use the posture sheet where appropriate.

We recommend hydrating before and after your practice rather than drinking during class. Please bring your own water bottle.

If you’re arriving late to a Mysore class, please let the teacher know beforehand.

When entering, do so as quietly as possible and try to choose a position close to the stairs if possible.

Please let the teacher know in advance if you need to leave early.

When leaving, do so as quietly as possible. Please avoid loudly flapping or rolling up your mat — it may sound like a small thing, but when someone is deeply absorbed in their practice, sudden noises can be surprisingly unsettling.

If you know you’ll need to leave early, choosing a position closer to the stairs can make your departure easier and quieter.

Please avoid wearing perfume, cologne or strong deodorants in the studio.

Some people are sensitive to strong smells, and when we’re all breathing deeply together, even a small amount of fragrance can become quite noticeable.

Please clean your yoga equipment regularly.

Cleaning products are provided for use at the end of class. We also recommend giving your mat a thorough clean at least once a month.

Not at all.

Yoga can have a spiritual dimension for some people, while for others it’s about strength, flexibility, fitness, mindfulness, meditation, stress relief or simply feeling better in their body.

There is no single reason you need to be here.

We welcome and respect everyone’s reason for practising, and we ask that you extend that same respect to your fellow students.

Please remember that everyone in the room is here for their own practice.

Be respectful of different bodies, abilities, experience levels and approaches to yoga. There is no need to compare yourself to anyone else — your practice is your own.

Please also be mindful of personal space and avoid unnecessary contact with other students.

Please respect your teacher’s guidance and experience. Let them know about any injuries, concerns or limitations so they can help you practise safely and appropriately.

Your teacher is there to support you, so don’t hesitate to ask for assistance when you need it.

We see the studio as a place of retreat and sanctuary — a space for reflection, meditation, movement and stillness.

Please help us preserve that feeling by treating the space, your teachers and your fellow students with care and respect.

Leave the studio a little better than you found it.

Put your belongings away, clean your equipment, respect the space around you and give your fellow students the same consideration you’d appreciate yourself.

Most importantly, breathe, practise and enjoy being here.

We’re very glad to have you as part of the Live and Breathe Yoga community.
