Plan. Pick. Protect. (How to Make It Easy to Practice)
Yoga doesn’t just happen. Especially not in our busy, over-scheduled lives. And is we just wait to ‘feel’ like it it’s probably going to be too late. Between work, family, to-do’s, and the endless pull of “just one more thing,” it’s all too easy for practice to get pushed to the bottom of the list.
That’s where the Air element comes in. Air loves movement, freedom, and possibility – but without direction, it can scatter us. If we’re not careful, the days blow past like leaves in the wind, and before we know it another week has gone by without stepping on the mat. And then a year goes by and it feels impossible to get back into it.
The good news? Air also teaches us how to create space and lightness. With just a little structure, we can give freedom a container. That’s where our simple formula comes in: Plan. Pick. Protect.
Plan
Your practice doesn’t happen by accident. Look at your week ahead and map out when you’ll come to class. Treat it like any other important appointment—because it is. You wouldn’t casually skip a meeting with your boss or forget your dentist booking, right? Give your health and wellbeing the same respect.
Planning is an act of love. Love for yourself, love for your body, love for your future self who will thank you for showing up.
Pick
Choose your non-negotiables. And I mean they are NON-NEGOTIABLE! What are the two or three classes that will hold you steady no matter what? Maybe it’s two mornings and a Sunday. Maybe it’s a midweek Reset & Restore and an online Level 2 that keeps you sane through the chaos. Whatever they are, pick them now. These are your anchors.
Once you’ve chosen your anchors, the rest of your practice becomes easier. You can still sprinkle in other classes as life allows, but you’ll always have your foundation.
Protect
This is the big one. Life will test your commitment. The phone will ring, the inbox will fill, your to-do list will explode. Protect your practice time like it’s precious – because it is. This is YOUR life!
- Put your classes in your calendar.
- Tell your family or housemates your practice schedule.
- Say no to what doesn’t serve your end-of-term vision.
Protecting your time isn’t selfish. It’s what allows you to show up with an open heart – for your family, your colleagues, your community.
Why It Matters
Plan. Pick. Protect. isn’t about making yoga another chore. It’s about making it easier to get to class so you can enjoy the benefits: a calmer mind, a stronger body, a steadier heart.
When you give your practice structure, you give yourself the freedom to simply arrive, breathe, and move. That’s when yoga stops being something you “try to fit in” and becomes part of who you are.
Try this today:
Write down your anchor practices for the week. Put them in your calendar now. Protect them like sacred appointments. Then notice how much lighter it feels to simply show up.
Ready to put Plan. Pick. Protect. into action? Our timetable is live and ready for you – book your classes now and enjoy the freedom of simply showing up. All it takes is being consistent.
