Terese first found yoga over 22 years ago while she was studying nursing and working in an aged care facility. The physical demands of lifting residents left her with a sore back, and a trusted massage therapist suggested she try yoga. Luckily, her first teacher had just moved from Byron Bay after completing an Iyengar-style teacher training—and it turned out to be the beginning of a lifelong practice.
Yoga helped relieve Terese’s back pain and reduced her need for regular massages and pain medication. It also became a huge support during her nursing studies, easing exam anxiety and helping her process the emotional load of caring for patients. Since then, yoga has been a steady companion through pregnancies, family life, and a busy healthcare career.
Teaching yoga was something Terese had always dreamed of, but with a young family, travelling away for training just wasn’t possible. That all changed when she found Allison’s teacher training here at Live and Breathe Yoga. While she never expected to end up teaching in the studio, she’s now part of the teaching team—and she absolutely loves it.
Caring for others has always been at the heart of who Terese is. Teaching yoga allows her to continue that path while also making space for her own wellbeing.
