Deepen your practice with our Yogic studies Immersion program

Live and Breathe Yoga offers a deep exploration of all 8 limbs of yoga, to take your yoga deeper, without needing to extend this into teacher training. If you do decide to take the next step into teaching, you can finish your immersion with yoga teaching certification, but you certainly don’t have to.

Explore your patterns, your values, discover your inner wisdom

Amid the speed and overwhelm of our modern lives lies the philosophy and lifestyle of yoga, an ancient practise that’s hugely popular for its relevance to healing and helping us in the modern world.

With so many problems, both personal and societal, yoga is the powerful toolbox of techniques that can soothe, uplift, focus, and inspire.

If you want to explore the potential of your life, your yoga mat is the perfect vehicle and the ancient wisdom is the fuel  to do so. The ripple effect of this yogic studies immersion will be felt far beyond your mat. Our unique program approaches the art of living and thriving through the embodiment of your yoga. If you’re ready to transform your life, from the inside out, we can’t wait to welcome you!

Together, we will:

1. Develop a sadhana : a practice that aligns with your values to gain
– physical clarity through asana
– energetic clarity through pranayama and chanting
– mental clarity through meditation
– spiritual clarity through study of yogic philosophy and self-inquiry

2. Discover your bhavana : the feeling associated with an action.
The feeling of exhilaration, peace, fulfilment that comes with practice is something we will consciously reinforce.
You will have access and accountability to yoga and meditation professionals who are experts in the field and inspirational to learn from.

3. Connect with sangha : the shared sense of community .
Connect with a community of like-minded yogis who are wanting to deepen their understanding of themselves and their practice just like

Early on into the immersion, I began to feel the positive effects of regular practice to the point where it became addictive to want to keep practicing! Pairing this with the philosophical and theoretical knowledge passed on through the Immersion, I have been opened up to a whole new world of Yoga that I wasn't previously aware of.

Each module build your knowledge

Each module we reflect and build on the module before. As well as a deep exploration of the yoga asanas, we explore the subtle arts of pranayama breathwork, meditation, mantra, philosophy and energetics.

  1. Yoga techniques : deep dive into asana, pranayama, meditation
  2. Chanting and sanskrit : learn the sanskrit names and meanings of postures as well as traditional chants and mantra
  3. Yogic philosophy : study ancient teachings and texts of yoga
  4. Yogic physiology : discover the energetics of yoga to harness inner vitality

Transform the way you approach your practice, learn about yourself, appreciate the power of your mind, rejuvenate your body, and transform your life.

I would definitely recommend the Immersion as there is so much goodness to learn that you wouldn’t be exposed to attending a weekly yoga class. Being able to understand the ‘why’ behind the practice and help yourself fulfil a routine (asana, pranayama and meditation) to balance daily pressures. Connecting with and feeling my own intuition – priceless!

Self-awareness and transformation

Discover the foundational threads of an embodied yoga practice and experience its effects on your body, mind and nervous system, emotional intelligence and life force (known as prana in yoga).

As well as a deep exploration of the yoga asanas, we explore the subtle arts of pranayama breathwork, meditation, mantra and energetics.

We look at:

  • The yogic physiology framework and subtle energy systems, and how these affect, and are affected by, our yoga practise. This includes the the nadis (energetic channels), chakras (energetic centres), koshas (energetic layers), gunas (energetic states) and the vayus (energetic directions).
  • How to apply the yogic physiology framework and subtle energy systems for deeper self-awareness, self-regulation and wisdom
  • Pranayama breathwork – ancient breath regulation techniques that have powerful effects on emotional regulation, fatigue, stress and anxiety, and focus and calm.
  • Chakras (energetic centres) within the body that unlock our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Bandhas (energetic locks) that we can use to deepen our physical practise, protect ourselves, and manipulate our energetics
  • The power of mudra (symbolic or ritual hand poses) to stimulate the flow of prana in the body, or quieten the mind
  • Mantra (sacred sounds) meditation aids to focus and uplift your mind and prepare you for silent meditation.
  • Mindfulness meditation techniques to cultivate a sense of effortless connection for a vibrant life
  • Sanskrit terminology and chanting
  • The history of yoga philosophies, including the Vedanta/Upanishads, Samkhya philosophy, the Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the deities, in order to understand and appreciate the historic and cultural roots of this powerful practise.

The Immersion offers such a broad and accessible entry into ancient teachings. The program invites you to do your own investigations and relate what you find to your own life - allowing it to enrich what you do by becoming more aware and curious about the world you live in. I feel that I have become more present with my relationship and family life by understanding some of these principles and look forward to continuing to dive into how these, along with a regular asana, pranayama and meditation practice, can hold me through life and all it's twists!

Why choose us?

There really is no other yoga immersion course like this one!

Our highly skilled, sensitive and thoroughly engaging trainers are dedicated to teaching, with more than 50 years’ combined experience. Each of our trainers are the best in the business and have taught internationally and locally to a diverse range of students for more than 15 years each.

We love exploring and sharing the deeper, more esoteric aspects of yoga which are little-known and hugely potent.

We’ve developed this transformational immersion from best practice research, drawn from thousands of hours of teaching experience from the trainers and will be accessible to interested individuals throughout the region.

Our style and approach

Live and Breathe Yoga was founded in 2010 by Allison Dearling, a former accountant whose life was profoundly changed by yoga in her 20s.

Following a devastating injury in her teens, she embarked on a long journey of rehabilitation through yoga, a path that eventually led her to travel to India to deepen her practice in Ashtanga yoga.

While our roots are in Ashtanga and we are grounded by tradition, we adapt all practises to you and your unique self.

Being a working parent, I am grounded in the real world, experiencing similar life challenges as you. We really do Live and Breathe Yoga in our daily lives.

We recognise that each person is different and on different journeys. We know that the benefits of yoga extend far beyond exercise and mindfulness, to the ability to heal and transform lives. To truly explore the potential of yoga in your life requires skill, collaboration and commitment.

More than just a yoga immersion, this will encourage you to be a living example of health and vitality, inspiring others to deepen their personal yoga practise, too.

We’re so excited that you’re considering taking the next step with us.”

This program has changed every aspect of my life. I decided to do this course because I had fairly recently started consistent yoga practice and recognised that there was a lot more to it than just the physical. I approach life, relationships and work differently. I generally find a lot more enjoyment in all of these domains. I am now set me up to continue a lifetime of practice and learning and I am genuinely excited to see where it takes me.

Our teaching team

This program has completely changed not only my yoga practice, but I feel my complete personality! I find myself now becoming less reactive to situations, thinking more positively and overall being grateful for each new day.

Being able to spend 1 weekend a month focusing on the philosophy and practices of yoga has been such a grounding and illuminating experience. With the busyness of work and young kids, it was so good to slow down and look inwards. Having the course spaced out with monthly weekend workshops also helped me to really work on my practice in between and incorporate pranayama, meditation and reading philosophy into my week. There is so much to learn and reflect on and I think it’s wonderful to not have to rush the process.
